First of all, I am having trouble adjusting to little boy-hood... I still think of Thomas as a baby... sigh! Sometimes I worry that I am holding him back because I have to make a effort to push him. Not that I am trying to hold him back, I just still think of him as a baby... time has flown. So anyway, Thomas went straight from clumsily toddling around to running. He loves to be outside and we just started walking to get the mail together every afternoon. We always have an "argument" at the mailbox because he wants to keep going down the street and I make him go back up the driveway. It doesn't mean we have to go inside the house, just that we can't play in the street. So, the point of the title of this post is that I was holding his hand when we got to the mailbox and he was pulling with all his might to get me to keep going down the street. I lost my grip on his hand and he ended up on his knees. It wasn't bad as you can tell in the picture, but I did want to document his first of many (so I have been told) skinned up knees. He didn't cry or anything! He skinned up both knees, but I couldn't get both legs to be still enough to take a picture! This is only his second real injury- he busted his lip while Katie was here a few weeks ago.
When Bobby and I learned that we were having a son, I started praying for him to be all boy in all ways, and man oh man did God deliver. He has absolutely no fear of walking/running anywhere, diving off the sofa head first, pulling the fur or ear of our 70+ pound four legged boy, etc. What a blessing, but he sure does keep me moving. Who needs an eliptical trainer when you have a 15 month old?
This verse has been on my mind for the past couple of days now...
"Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us..." Ephesians 3:20
Thank you, Jesus, for a vibrant, healthy, adventurous little boy!
